Do
you need someone to correct and polish your existing materials through detailed
proofreading and professional editing?
Potomac
Writing Service offers two types of general proofreading & editing services:
1.
General proofreading - If you have an article, brochure, book chapters, report,
newsletter or e-mail, and need the content proofread, this is the service for
you. While we do not provide extensive rewriting as a part of this type of service,
we will focus on a detailed examination of all the spelling, punctuation and grammar
of your piece. We pride ourselves in being very detail-oriented, and will read
your piece at least two (2) times in order to catch every possible error. Most
of our clients will send us their document in MS-Word format, which we will proofread
and correct using the "track changes" option, which is sent back to
them upon project completion. We can proofread documents in other formats, however,
including hard-copy (printed) output (extra charges will apply).
2.
Editing - Should your document require more extensive work, in addition to checking
grammar, spelling and punctuation, then you will need our professional editing
service. During editing, the overall organization, paragraph and sentence structure
of your piece are examined in detail, and we will recommend changes to your document
to improve style, organization and readability. In layman's terms, editing is
a much more intensive process than general proofreading, requires more time, and
costs more. While it has not been a problem with most of our clients, occasionally
we receive a request to "edit" a document, and further examination reveals
so many mistakes and problems that it really should be completely rewritten. If
in our judgment your document should be rewritten rather than edited, we will
advise you of this, and will not do any editing or proofreading of it. In that
case we will be happy to provide you with a quote to do the authoring.
IF
YOU ARE INTERESTED IN USING OUR SERVICE - HERE IS WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW
GENERAL

Do you have a sample of any of the documents that we could
inspect?
What format is the document in? (MS-Word, text file, PDF, other format)
What is the length of the article? (This is the length in words, not paragraphs
or pages.)
Would you like the proofread copy in a file format, or hardcopy?
What are your project deadlines?
What is your approximate project budget?
